Shilpa Kala Kutir

Dr. T. B. Solabakkanavar has his own credit of writing a new definition for the sculpture. He has proved that the sculpture is not an asset of the educated but also has its share for the illiterate. Solabakkanavar's art, which represented the majority of the labour class, is immortal. As a result of his attempt to introduce rural culture to the world, Shilpa Kala Kutir was established in Hulasogi village in 1992.

Through this Shilpa Kala Kutir, human-made sculptures, which are chiselled without intervention of machinery, have become an indication of contemporary art. They have been reflecting the costumes, weapons, and ornaments of the respective era.

After the art journey of Dr T. B. Solabakkanavar was ended in 2020, his son Rajaharsha Solabakkanavar is heading the Shilpa Kala Kutir as an art guide. This Kutir has carved over 15,000 artifacts. It has successfully completed many gardens across the country. It has got appreciation from the Government of Karnataka and various private organizations of the nation.
